Schedule

Residents rotate through the NeuroICU from Neurology (PGY2), and Neurosurgery (PGY1). We also welcome senior residents from Neurology who are on elective. 

Staffing of the service is done with the first resident rotating on Team 1 and if there is a second resident on Team 2. It is encouraged that the residents switch services after 1-2 weeks to ensure working with different teams and to see different patients. 

Residents do not routinely get weekdays off during the service as they will have 2 weekends off/4 weeks. If there are any concerns about duty hours or needed time off please discuss this with the attending on service.

Given that our service relies on overnight NP coverage, we do not ask residents to cover overnight at all throughout the rotation. We do need the residents to cover weekends as call and ensure that these are split evenly throughout the team. 

Residents are asked to work 2 weekends for every month or block rotation. These are assigned, but may be changed by switching with another resident or emailing Dr. Suh as early as possible. Please do NOT wait until the last minute! 

Senior Neurology residents are not expected to cover weekends as they may already be on call for Neurology services
